The Witch of Endor

This is my poem of the week.
It’s probably more suited for Halloween time,
but it’s taken from 1st Samuel Chapters 28 & 30

Then Saul said to his servants,
“Seek out for me a woman who is a medium,
so that I may go to her and inquire of her.”
His servants said to him, “There is a medium at Endor.”
1st Samuel 28:7

King Saul lay awake in bed, And as he tossed and turned, A fear grew deep inside of him, Because of what he learned. His enemies were approaching, They were seeking to destroy. He had sent his sons to battle, And was praying for his boys. He had tried to do it his way, Now he couldn't hear God's voice. So he sought the Witch of Endor, To help him make a choice. She told him all his sons would die, And soon after he would too. Depression overcame him, He became despondent and withdrew. The next day on the battle field, All his sons were laid to rest. The king ran out to grieve them And was wounded in the chest. So he laid his sword upon a stone, Fell onto it and died, And all of the events took place, Just as the Witch implied.
